On May 6, 2012, Ambassador Gutman attended a lively Sunday afternoon discussion about the U.S.-Belgian transatlantic relationship and vital role immigrants have played in the history of America. Ambassador Gutman noted that the Red Star Line museum is important for both Belgium and America. In Belgium, it commemorates the story of a shipping line, the start of millions of journeys, of people who travelled to America to find a new home. In America, on the other end of that shipping line, those people built a nation. The heart of America came to the U.S. on the Red Star Line.
